I've been trying to figure out what to do regarding a double stroller. I have the added problem of living in Israel, where the selection is pitiful. I intend to get from the US, but it means that either I don't take anything for a 'test drive' (and that is VERY important for me) or I wait until the baby is 3 months old when we take our trip to the US.
I was thinking about
Baby Trend Double Sit N Stand since it can go from a true double stroller to a SNS, but the bad reviews are giving me pause (difficult to fold.. the fact that it's difficult to turn would be kind of expected, it's a train after all).
Someone I know is getting the
Joovy Caboose but from what I can see, if the seat is in recline, you lose the use of the back bench. So what good is that? Although it seems to be an issue with ALL SNS type strollers. The other problem I have with this stroller is the seat is NOT intended for a baby under 6 months old. Basically the manufacturers expect you to also buy the infant seat/carrier that can fit into it. The carriage itself weighs a ton just as it is. Infant seats are another 10 pounds or so and THEN you factor in the weight of the kids. Um... no.
Now the
Kolcraft Contours HAD been number 1 on my list until someone who has it told me the only way it folds is if you remove the back seat. If I'm traveling alone, with a baby and a toddler and need to put it in the baggage compartment of a bus, the design is just stupid. Apparently THESE manufacturers never dreamed that a person using the carriage would use public transportation. I mean after all, doesn't EVERYONE own a minivan?
So now number 1 on my list is the
Baby Jogger City Mini Double but we'll need the family to help us buy it since it's so much more expensive than the other ones... I also hear the 2009 design is supposed to be better. Who knows.
