Apparently the computer is not dead or fried... Zach unplugged the power cord and plugged it back in and voila!

I didn't try that because everything else plugged into that power strip was lit...

Whatever... ok, glad to know it turned out to be nothing.

We had a bit of a power surge some time today and since the UPS wasn't working on Zach's computer, it wasn't plugged into it and I have a feeling his computer is dead.. which is annoying because 1. it has all the tv on it and 2. we really don't have the money to fix it (if it is fixable)...

Took SR to the doctor and he gave us a referral for an ultrasound. The earliest she can get it done is January 15th... so...

I think Friday night's meal will be zucchini and onion latkes, potato and sweet potato latkes and possibly tomato latkes (if I can find the canned whole tomatoes) or tuna latkes if I can't get the tomatoes, with garlic and dill yogurt and for dessert, apple fritters. Should there be a pasta dish somewhere in there? No, I think a fresh salad instead. Oh, and feta cheese...

Dinner tonight are bagels, lox, cream cheese... yes, I'm having the girls pick up a dozen assorted bagels at Holy Bagel...

Ok, that was annoying... the electricity went out. And I've just discovered yet another reason to hate my stove top. Since I had no idea how long the power would be out for (20 minutes), I went to put a pot of water up to boil so NS and I could have pasta for lunch. Except the starters for the burners are of course electric and it apparently has a safety feature so I can't simply turn on the gas, take a lit match to it and have a sustainable flame going.

Needless to say I cut my shower short when the electricity came back on and lit the stove. (Thankfully the boiler had been on earlier and there was plenty of yummy hot water and high pressure for a shower).
