Saw the doctor for the follow up. Last week I saw her because I've been having constant low-level headaches for an alarming amount of time. She ordered a full blood screen done so I went back today to discuss the results.

There were two red flags in the results. Surprisingly, anemia is NOT one of them.

One is high triglycerides which is a first for me. Cholesterol was fine. So I have an appointment with a dietician after the holidays (really, that was the first available appointment!)

The other is liver enzymes issue so I have an ultrasound for the end of August. I may end up needing to get my records from the liver specialist I saw a few years ago. I also will most likely need to find a new (more local) liver specialist.

Since neither of these issues can cause headaches and nothing else pinged in the blood screen, she gave me a referral to see a neurologist. Now I just need to find one. There is one local and I'll probably end up using him. Or do you think going to the city and using someone is 'better'?

The other thing is I see floating black things in my left eye. I've mentioned this before and I mentioned it to the OB at L&D when I was hypertensive in the last week of my pregnancy. The opthamologist never found anything, but it's still there so I have an eye doctor appointment in a week and half.

And I lost another half kilo in a week.

EN is scheduled for a frenectomy (clipping his tongue tie) for July 22. He's also supposed to have a well baby visit that day too but I'm going to postpone that until the next week (to give him ample time to recover before getting a vaccination).

Actually, now that I think about it, I had one done when I was... about 10 years old or so. Maybe even older. Mine attached my gums to the inside of my lip... I think lower lip. The dentist did it.

EN is going to have it done at the hospital.

Beans are in a bowl of water for an overnight soak and I'll cook them tomorrow. Eventually they will grow up to become a Mexican casserole.

The veggie quiche will be defrosted tomorrow - I actually made that on Friday and froze it.

The cake is made, I just need to cut it up and then frost it.

EN seems to have started his 3 month growth spurt - he spent the better part of today asleep and even when he nursed, he did it semi-consciously. He didn't nurse more frequently but he did nurse longer at each time.

The ENT gave me paperwork for EN to have his tongue-tie taken care of in the hospital. In hindsight I should have taken the paperwork to administration right then but I really needed to get home. I'll get the paperwork processed locally.

I saw an apartment today and it was a disaster.

Friday afternoon we see another place and I have to call another 2 people back tomorrow.

I'm going to collapse now. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day and I'm alone with the boys.... yeesh.

Just saw the ENT.

She gave me a 10 day prescription for a different antibiotic. And a referral for an X-ray.

If it doesn't get better within 7 days and certainly if it gets worse, I'll need to get the x-ray done and most likely have my sinuses drained.

Took NS to the pediatrician. Now I have a prescription for a hydrocortisone cream for the worst patches of the eczema, a lotion for the rest of it and an antihistamine for at night. If the antihistamine doesn't work, I have a stronger medication to give him.

Also I have to bathe him twice a day and I have something to add to the bath water.

I think for Friday night I'll be making a pasta with mushroom cream sauce and a baked fillet of salmon. If I can find hoisin sauce, I'll make a hoisin-dijon mustard glaze for the fish. Not sure what to make for Shabbat lunch.

And I'll get EN his passport photos tomorrow. We tend to go to the Merkaz on Fridays any way, so rather than juggle both boys myself, I'll wait and Zach and I will take the boys tomorrow.

I hope this is because the antibiotics are finally kicking in, but my head hurts and my post nasal drip is pretty bad again.

Definitely going to need to see an ears, nose and throat specialist soonish.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... I really like the pediatrician... he takes the time to listen to what I have to say and he doesn't make me feel like a nervous first-time mommy when I've brought NS in with his mysterious fever - one more than one occasion, and he didn't make me feel stupid for bringing EN in because of his constipation.

The Ped does NOT think it's from the hernia, he seems to think it's natural, breast fed baby poop slow down. He checked EN out (which upset NS almost as much as it did EN) and says he's Barch Hashem (thank God) healthy. His undescended right testicle is on it's way to where it needs to be and the Ped gave me the paperwork I need to see the pediatric surgeon regarding the hernia. After the holiday I will make the appointment (needs to be at the Petach Tikvah clinic).

I also made EN his first well-baby visit appointment for May 3rd. I'm hoping I can get both boys seen at the same time. EN will be a bit over 1 month and NS will be just under 2 years, but I'm hopeful.

The big minus of our morning was getting out of the house. NS was awake by 6:15 a.m. and refused to nap at 8... and we left at 9. Or at least tried to. NS had a total melt down and the only plus side was the fact that the carriage was already downstairs. I had to carry a hysterical NS down the stairs while wearing EN and it wasn't easy.

Note to future Self: Pack the snacks out of NS's sight. That's what triggered the meltdown.

I've also discovered that NS has NOTHING to wear for the warmer weather. He's pretty much outgrown the stuff he got for fall/winter anyway but I now see we're going to have to get him summer clothes ASAP. On our trip to the US in August we'll get him the coming fall/winter stuff.

This week is a start out slow, end with rush kinda week.

AFAIK, I have nothing planned until Wednesday. Well, Zach and I are going to plan a budget for February. Then I see the nurses and then the OB. I'm hoping that there's story hour for NS later in the day.

Thursday evening Zach and I have the tour of L&D/Maternity at the hospital.

I just called both Tel Hashomer and Wolfson hospitals to get an appointment to have my toe taken care of. Neither are very convenient so I figured I'd go with whomever can see me first.

What I didn't count on is the moronic phone menu Tel Hashomer has. I gave up after having to restarts 4 times in 15 minutes...

So Wolfson it is. 9 a.m. on February 11th. Which is really good... the way the secretary at the clinic made it seem, I was planning on having to wait a month or 3... of course it will mean leaving the house at 6 a.m. and most likely TC will have to stay home to watch NS... but I really need to get this taken care of.

SR just called. The doctor said her ultrasound looked fine and he didn't see any problems.

On the one hand, I'm glad.

on the other hand, it means more tests... CT, barium x-ray... maybe even an MRI.... all which will take time to get, have and more trips to the gastro... while she's in pain.
28th-Jan-2009 09:01 am - Slight change in plans
The Boys
The plan WAS that SR, NS and I would head into Petach Tikvah for SR's stomach ultrasound. I also wanted to go to the Shuk nearby and finally get muffin papers and I wanted to go to the pharmacy there and see about travel-size toiletries for my hospital bag (the pharm at the mall did not have last time I was there).

But as they say, Man plans, God laughs.

At about 9 p.m. last night, NS started with the pukes. He is NOT spiking a fever, thank God and he spent the better part of the day with a terribly drippy nose and from personal experience, I am about 90% sure it's from the post-nasal drip.

Except from 9-11 he snuggled on my lap and would throw up every 20-30 minutes. It didn't help he was throwing up the rice from dinner and swallowed some of it back down. Thankfully by 11 it seemed that all he had in him was bile and mucus so we attempted to go to bed.

From 11-1:30 a.m. he was coughing, gagging, puking every 30-60 minutes and then he finally managed a 2 hour chunk of sleep. And then slept from 3:45 until almost 7.

At 1:30 though I went online and made him an appointment with the pediatrician. If nothing else, I'd like to get him something for his running nose.

And then when I woke up around 7, my intestines informed me there is NO WAY I am leaving the house any time soon. If I'm still this sick an hour before NS's appointment, I'll pop a pill, but I'd rather not have to.

So SR is heading off for her appointment by herself.
